Anybody no different?

| Hi, thanks for displaying this photo of my bus -- a photo only brought to my attention today (10 Feb 05) -- of former Central SMT Bristol LD6G Lodekka B87 of 1958. You will no doubt be happy to learn that Gerry Cushley is providing periodic updates on the progress of its restoration (see www.centralsmt.co.uk ). The bus will soon be safe to drive, at least around Lathalmond, and its bodywork restoration is also making leaps and bounds. My hope is to restore it to at least early 60's livery if not actual 1958 colours. We are looking for original Central seat frames and cushions. Until we find some, conventional seats and Yorkshire Traction cushions will have to do(!).
Thanks again for posting the photo.

| Well some good news. Mckindless is meant to be ceasing operations on July 1st. People can now get out of their houses and enjoy safe and comfortable bus travel once more!
Maybe not - coakly is going to buy them??? oh and coakly is meant to be owned by Stagecoach??? |
|---|
| Coakley isn't owned by Stagecoach it's a guy called Neilson or something like that that owns Coakley. |
|---|
| Coakley is owned by Eddie Coakley |
|---|
| I just read that on another website. Do you think Hutchison will take on any of the ex Mckindless routes - like maybe run to Hamilton again? |
|---|
| Who knows the Lanarkshire runs inclusing the schools could be taken over by Coakley, Henderson Travel, Hutchisons or mayby even Whitelaws we'll just have to wait and see I think First will take the school runs in and the Rutherglen/Cambuslang area but again who knows I wonder what will happen to the 62,67,75 and the 80 routes. |
|---|
| Does anyone even know for certain that they are shutting up shop? what about the new depot they opened? there has not been any notices on the buses plus i can see coakly taking over the buses but not other companies such as Hutchison?
Another thing where is Coakly getting the money fron? |
|---|
| I don't think Mckindless are to cease trading causes from the 21st of August there starting a few new routes one of them being a X21 from Lanark to East Kilbride. |
|---|
| I really dont think mckindless is going to cease operations, saying that Vince, doesnt have the operators licence, supposed to be 1 of his daughters has it. |
|---|
| Mr Mckindless wont be happy till he has crowded out any other operator from running thro lanarkshire, He runs all his services 2 or 3 minutes infront of all the other operators, forcing a few I know to quit. He has a nasty way of operating, was it shotts he did it with? First pulled their service off the road because of him, and now after 18:00 there are no services to shotts. Hutchisons face it day in day out, with other operators facing it too,in my opinion the authorties seem to turn a blind eye to his antics, but then again thats just my opinon. |
|---|
| That's competition for you all companies do it not just McKindless even First do it it's a way of making money. |
|---|
| Hutchisons Coaches, have sold or 'merged' their operations with first glasgow, all the service work is moving to the control of first bus, along with all service drivers, and express services and drivers, not too sure if its the 1st of june or july, but it is 100% happening, Bloody sad day if you ask me. |
|---|
| Sorry didnt explain that too well, the coach work stays at overtown, scottish pullmans are ok for now, but, it may all change. |
|---|
| What buses do you think will be used? Some Urbans? Geminis? I think it will be a good set up and the new routes look quite interesting. Also, if first do decided to keep the Optares etc - they won't look bad in the First livery |
|---|
| Firstly McKindless arn't giving up
and secondly Hutchisons have been bought by First Glasgow and they will become First Glasgow (No2) on the 1st on July 2007. They got their vaults fitted last night.
|---|
| We established that mckindless was not giving up last year! So when does the 'merger' occur? |
|---|
| After being on a Huthison bus today i did not see a vault. the bus was an 04 plate. |
|---|
| First takeover the bus services of Hutchison from Sunday 1st of July 2007. Only the 4 Glasgow Express buses have been fitted with vaults so far |
|---|
| There are fresh rumors that Mckindless is struggling again... what happen to the new fleet of kinglongs etc haha. |
|---|
| The kinglong has been returned |

Great images of the old work horse Leopards. I am trying to track down an ex Lancaster Y type Leopard which used to be owned by a Mini bus firm at Shawsburn beside Jack Dunsmore's satellite yard. They used the Leopard for schools work . Any ideas where it might be now?

| Hopeless junk. This struggles on First Glasgow route 203 going up Fernhill Road. |
|---|
| Yet again, you talk shi*t. First have never owned this, nor did or do Hutchison's run the 203. This bus has since passed to Rossendale Transport so the chances of you travelling on it are slim. Even if you had, I think you'll find it is anything but a piece of junk, these are some of the best buses Hutchison have ever operated, not to be compared to with the example First have. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. |

| this is a nice version of a volvo b10m-56 duple 300 did this come from stagecoach or was it from ribble am not sure plus there aint many about now days |
|---|
| Hutchison bought all their Duple 300's new, only J17BUS remains in the fleet. |
|---|
| Hutchison did sell one of their b10m-56s to first |
|---|
| No they didn't Hutchison never sold any Duples to First it was Golden Eagle of Salsburgh and it was SV402 which is now scrapped. |
|---|
| LOL, Hutchy didnt sell out to KCB so they wouldnt get a DUPLE from em |
|---|
| They are good old buses, bit noisy, but fairly powerful, Have driven those buses for hutchy, did drive for them, the duples, were kinda warm in the summer, not too bad in the winter, but the only real complaint i had was the drivers seats werent the best, very uncomfy for the long shifts we did. |
|---|

NOT TRUE Golden Eagle were taken over by Kelvin Central and the bus was included in the deal |

 McKindless WIL9225 (P153BUG) McKindless of Wishaw |
|---|
| why do mckindless operate nice buses but end up destroying them they must be nuts am glad mcw metrobuses are still in service |
|---|
| Mckindless do not operate nice buses, trust me. They:
1. Break down constantly.
2. They have a tendency to burst into flames.
3. The are always smelling on damp. |
|---|
| Just get on any of their buses and you will see. They buy buses that are useless and the condidtion that some of them is a disgrace. There is not a day goes by that you don't see one stuck at the side of the road. On the otherhand you have companies such as Hutchison who have buses which are spotless clean and are maintained well. Mckindless also have their little scheme's where they operate a route for round about six weeks to do damage to other companies so as they can buy more death traps. |
|---|
| That's just the Glasgow operation that's like that you go into Hamilton and Motherwell areas like that and you see low floor MAN Darts,Plaxton Darts and Volvo ALX200'S which are low floor ok they could do better with the Glasgow area buses but i give them something I use to travel to school on the 67 and the buses were cleaner than First's 267 if Mckindless came into my area i'd use them for their cleaness and there cheaper. |
|---|
| Have a wee look around Mckindless buses on the outside, I allways remember when the VI came into schools in wishaw to check out the buses, Mckindless always' Failed to turn up' in the old crap they used, and the reasonable crap they used on service work would turn up then. |
|---|
| why have mckindless got so many brocken buses in their yard they could have those buses running instead of lying there in pices!!! |

| All of Hutchison's buses are so well maintained. I'm surprised they have not dominated else where, they would win over First any day. Like I was on one of First's Geminis and it was filthy inside and out and seats had came off and the air conditioning was not working (as usual). |
|---|
| back seats come off due to engine vibrations on the geminis and B7Ls and B7LA |
|---|
| Probably some occurance caused by First badly maintaining them. I've already seen two Urbans broken down and they entered service in January 2006. |

|---|
| What you mean? What i mean is was anybody hurt, how the accident was caused and what is happening with the coach? |
|---|
| Early indications is that the white van was to blame somehow causing the bus driver to swerve. Know one was seriously injured fortunately, though several passengers on the bus commented that if it wasn't for the skill of the driver the full incident could have been a lot worse. The bus is in the garage in Overtown ATM. |
|---|
| The bus to be written off? Glad to here there wasn't too many people injured. Was it the half 9 or 10 bus from Cleland or Newmains? |

| is this going to be painted into the new livery that was introduced on the newer buses? |
|---|
| No, this is it repainted. It is basically the same livery this and 304 wore from new albeit without the cream below the windows and they no longer have any vinyls advertising Stuart Anderson's car showrooms |
|---|
| ah kk, r any of the older buses being painted in the new scheme? |
|---|
| Doubt it, probably only new additions to the fleet that will get that livery. This bus has damage to the lower body panels after 5 days in service, it met an artic on a bad bend along the diversionary route of the number and got to close to a ditch! |
|---|
| oh! are there any new buses ordered? been a while since they last got any, is it not? |
|---|
| It's only been 2 years since the 4 B7RLE's were delivered. All services now operate using low floor vehicles the oldest of which is a 1997 Optare Excel, the newst are 2004. The MAN/Vectas which are all only used as school buses are advertised for sale, maybe when the are sold the Excels will replace them on schools and something will replace the Excels on regular service. |
|---|
| r all the school buses to painted like mckindless - like the american style - was that not meant to be a new law?
did anything ever happen with the mercs?
|---|
| No, all are in Hutchison livery. I think it was just McKindless' choice to paint their scrap like that. What Mercs are you talking about? |
|---|
| did they not have a cintaro demonstrator a while back - saw the pic on ur site? |
|---|
| Don't think anything has ever come of it. It was doing the rounds locally so they maybe just wanted a sample. They also had a Touro coach on demo as well |

do you have any info to varify this move
regards jim long |
|---|
| Yes 61348 - 61369 are moving last I heard that a few have already entered service with First Eastern Counties but also I think there are a few still getting prepared at Motherwell Depot before there move. |
|---|
| Hi Jim, as far as I'm aware the Striders are to be moved somewhere else, which is a shame. They've operated from Motherwell depot the vast majority of their lives (except the Edinburgh ones) and only recently a lot were repainted/retrimmed/new LED screens. Will be sad to see them go |
|---|
| I also thought they were better than the B10Ms. They were better at going up Fernhill Rd, had a lower step and were better lit than the B10M. |
|---|
| do you ever shut the fuck up about fernhill road |

| I don't like swearing either Mark but it's idiots like him that just make comments, (the comment being about Fernhill Road) which have nothing to do with buses they just feel like opening their stupid mouth that really annoy me. |
|---|
| Not as long as you'd think. It was still in Motherwell Depot on 3rd April 2005, an all-day ticket then having just gone up from 2.20 to 2.25.
It left service a LONG time before that, and was up on lifts for at least 2 years with no engine, just waiting for Dunsmores to take it. |

| much better than mckindless crap anyday! |
|---|
| They will be going to first soon - look out for them becoming a state! |
|---|
| No they won't don't you know the terms of the deal
First only take the srvice operations they don't take any coach or School work thats why they are not taking on Overtown Depot because Hutchisons are still runing their Scottish Pullman Services |
|---|
| The X11 and X9 are going to First. If you look at the map that was published by First then you will see. I have read you're comments on another site and it is clear that you are an arrogant 'know all' when it is clear that you know jack shit. Hutchisons will continue to operate a coaches, however, it will be tours that will be operated and not express services. Reffering back to the map published, i do not think that First would publish a map which has routes that they do not plan to operate. Right enough i'm wrong as you seem to know all the ins and outs of the deal.
|---|
| I am a Hutchison driver and just to clarify that First are taking all bus services including the 2 motorway express services. The deal includes 4 coaches for the express services and all service buses T reg and older. Hutchisons owner will continue to operate 3 school buses (for the time being) and 12 coaches on tour work/private hire |
|---|
| Excuse me who do you think you are talking to.
Well scene you have to act big over this.
Their Scottsih Pullman buses are safe they will still be operated OK whether its by First or Hutchisons i don't know but i think your the arogant fool |
|---|
| All i have been sayin is what i have been hearing about the deal and i do not know everything about it. I forgot completley about the X9 and the X11 so don't start ok i admitted i am wrong. I had been told that along with the coach operations the Scottish Pullamn was safe and Hutchy would still run it. And i have had a look at the map as my dad drives for First at Blantyre and i saw it on the bus and also read all about it in the Drivers newsletter. |
|---|
| Firstly i am not acting big and i do not know what you are meaning when you use that term?, i am simply showing you the facts that i know are TRUE. I was not debating that the Pullman services were not 'safe' as i knew for a fact that they were. |
|---|
| yeah well i was told that First were going to run the services using their their own buses and that Hutchison was keeping the Coaches to run tours and school contracts.
I also know that what i say is fact the only thing which i have got wrong was about the Coaches and i have admitted that i was wrong! |
|---|
| Have First sold the ex Hutchisons Express Coaches ? |
| |
A rear view of 27 shows to good effect the new vinyls and fleetnames which were applied recently as the red stripes had faded to a shade of pink. The paintwork is kept in good condition on this bus thanks to Andy's regular polishing of it a....Focus on: Hutchison Coaches, the final fleet |
|---|
| Finally some new decals it was like a First Hybrid - the decals were going pink lol. Sad to here that First are not taling the Opatres ! |
|---|
| When the coaches are repainted are First going to keep the Scottish Pullman bit |
|---|
| this bus didn't pass to first as hutchison still trade as oach operators, therefore first wont be able to use the scottish pullman name |
|---|
| I knew this bus didn't go i ment to put the comment in the one above sorry. So they won't be using the name ? |
|---|
| Obviously as it is still used by Hutchison on their coaches... the non express ones |

 CV13, 60030 (R343 GHS) Blantyre Depot First Glasgow : Coaches |
|---|
| where did these come from? |
|---|
| These have always been with first. They use them on the Glasgow Express services that were taken over when the took over Hutchison. They are the exact same as the coaches that were previously used by Hutchison on that route. |
|---|
| They never used to be at Blantyre |
|---|
| They actually got used on the Cumbernauld Express services a few years ago and were then transferred somewhere down south. |
|---|
| I was having a look at them yesterday while in the depot there very neat inside. just hope they stay that way. The Hutchison coaches however have truely started their life with First i was on one yesterday and when i can off i was very dirty one of the back seats is also covered in oil. |
|---|
| stop complaining you fool. poor cleaning on firsts part, they were always clean when with hutchison |
|---|
| Thats what i ment i wasn't getting at Hutchy i was getting at First, that they had already let the standards fall.
And dont call me a fool |
|---|
| how could there be oil on the back seat? what do they fill the oil from inside the coach? - (that was sarcastic cos i do know that they are mid engined... i think lol) |
|---|
| hello its first lol does that not explain it . I realy cannot answer that one all i know is i got oil on my jacket. |
|---|
| why are the two of these fleet numbered 6**** and not 2**** like the other coaches? |
|---|
| Local fleet number is CV13, it was new to First Kelvin (before they became Glasgow (No.2)) and was in the Glasgow fleet until 1999. |

| Would these not be MV's like the other ALX 200's Blantyre have? |
|---|
| No, they are ALX300/B10BLE's not ALX200's |
|---|
| can you use the First all day tickets on the new First routes like the 242 and are they also valid on the express services like the X11 |
|---|
| obviously, they are first bus routes after all |
|---|
| Yes but you cannot use the all day ticket on services like the X7 and they're First routes. I also got refused by a First Edinburgh driver because i bought the ticket on a glasgow bus |
|---|
| What First Edinburgh route was it? The FiG FirstDay is only valid on the 24 and 27 to Banton and the X37 and X39 to Castlecary Village. |
|---|
| A First Day that is bought on a Glasgow service should be accepted on an Edinburgh service as, if you think of it, Glasgow and Edinburgh are two different companies. They both have Managing Directors and separate management teams... |

Irvines N754OAP in Hutchisons Depot, Overtown Irvines of Law |
|---|
| Do Hutchisons and Irvines share a depot? |
|---|
| No, they are related, and Irvine is just sort of space so storing in Overtown temporarily |
|---|
| Related - they are cousins |
|---|
| realy
why dosnt irvine take a leef out of hutchisons book and try to run some better quality buses |
|---|
| Irvines fleet is generally older and usually second hand but they are well looked after and the bodywork is in tip-top condition. You don't see many other operators running school buses, and coaches for that matter, in as fine a form as Irvine do. The photo of this bus the comments are about is a recent purchase and not yet been used |
|---|
| erm... hutchison does, well soon to be did. Also why are some of irvines newer coaches are white? Does that mean that they don't own newer models? |
|---|
| could this photo be emailed to me please as brighton and hove ned it to complete the list of photos of their buses with their new owners.
if so i would appreciate it.
thanks charlie |

| not had it that long have they?
shame.
I was one of the very few who used to like these slow, uncomfy, noisy, rattly buses when they dominated the Burnley & Pendle local routes! |
|---|
| I don't no for sure it is withdrawn or not, though judging by the the light lenses and mirror missing it may well be. Truly the worst bues to drive ever! |

| surely they could actually save money if they actual repaired faulty buses instead of scrapping them.
it seems to work for other companies eh? |
